Mrs. Peters has served as a member of the Alabama State Board of Education since 2003.

District II includes Barbour, Chambers, Clay, Cleburne, Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry, Houston, Lee, Randolph, Russell, Tallapoosa and a portion of Coosa Counties; and the following colleges: Central Alabama Community College; Chattahoochee Valley Community College; Enterprise State Community College; Southern Union State Community College; and George C. Wallace Community College, Dothan.
