When Sarah Heims returned to Wallace Community College 18 years after her last school experience, the prospect of taking math courses – even developmental level ones - intimidated her, and the prospect of taking them via computer intimidated her even more.
“I thought I was going to fail,” she said. “When I got into it and received help from the instructors, it was a breeze.”
Wallace’s developmental math program recently received an award from the Alabama Association for Developmental Education for its developmental math program. The program helps returning students who may be rusty or new students who are deficient in math gain the skills necessary to succeed in college level math work.
