AAICU 2-to-4 Transfer Program

The Alabama Community College System facilitates the seamless transfer from our community colleges to selected independent (private) colleges and universities in Alabama through an articulation agreement signed with the Alabama Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (AAICU).   This agreement provides a transfer program similar to the STARS system in that it allows for transfer of credits from Alabama’s community colleges to four-year institutions. A STARS transfer agreement, if used correctly, will steer the student through his/her first two years of coursework and prevent loss of credit hours upon transfer to the appropriate public university.   The AAICU 2 to 4 Transfer Program provides the same type of transfer guides and offers new opportunities for community college students to continue their education at one of Alabama’s independent colleges and universities.

AAICU TRANSFER GUIDES KEEP YOU ON THE RIGHT TRACK!

  • The Alabama Community College System (ACCS) and Alabama’s Independent Colleges and Universities are dedicated to making transfer as easy as possible.
  • Select independent colleges and universities will accept your coursework as identified by the corresponding transfer guides and allow you to graduate with the same number of hours as students who started at the four-year college or university and have the same major (assuming you do not change majors).
  • Each college and university has chosen those courses which would best fit into their existing General Studies Program and are offered at our community colleges.
  • To assist you in the transfer process and help you identify approved courses, each institution has developed transfer guides for each major offered under the articulation agreement.
  • To minimize transfer problems and best prepare you to finish your program in the minimum hours required, you should take courses as outlined by the transfer guide for your major.

AAICU 2 to 4 TRANSFER ELIGIBLE STUDENTS

Incoming community college freshmen enrolling as of fall semester, 2010 will be eligible to participate in the new AAICU Transfer Program. Interested students who earned credits in or graduated from one of Alabama’s public two-year community colleges prior to fall semester, 2010 should contact the selected college directly to determine transfer eligibility. For these students, each participating independent college and universities will determine eligibility.

AAICU 2 to 4 TRANSFER PROGRAM COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

As of January, 2015, thirteen of Alabama’s independent colleges and universities have signed articulation agreements with the Alabama Community College System and have provided transfer guides for selected majors.  We expect additional colleges and universities will sign agreements soon.  To access the most currently provided guides for a particular institution, click on the link for the appropriate college under "Participating Institutions" on the right side of this page.
