The Alabama Community College System’s 2 to 4 Transfer Program facilitates the seamless transfer from our community colleges to selected independent colleges and universities in Alabama. The 2 to 4 Transfer Program is similar to the STARS System already in place in that it allows for transfer to four-year institutions. A transfer agreement, if used correctly, will guide the student through his/her first two years of coursework and prevent loss of credit hours upon transfer to the appropriate public – and now, through the 2 to 4 Transfer Program, selected independent – four-year colleges and universities in Alabama.

2 to 4 Transfer is the next step to your success!

Our students are successful! More than half of all freshmen and sophomores in Alabama are enrolled in one of Alabama’s public two-year colleges. More than 16,000 community college students transfer yearly to a public four-year institution and studies show that most transfer students are as successful as the students who started at the four-year institution. The 2 to 4 Transfer Program offers new opportunities for community college students to continue their education at one of Alabama’s Independent Colleges and Universities.

2 to 4 Transfer Guides keep you on the right track!

  • The Alabama Community College System (ACCS) and Independent Colleges and Universities are dedicated to making transfer as easy as possible.

  • Independent Colleges and Universities will accept your coursework as identified by the Transfer Guides and allow you to graduate with the same number of hours as students who started at the university and have the same major (assuming you do not change majors).

  • Each college and university has chosen those courses which would best fit into their existing General Studies Program and are offered at our community colleges.

  • To assist you in the transfer process and help you identify approved courses, each institution has developed transfer guides for each major offered under the articulation agreement.

  • To minimize transfer problems and best prepare you to finish your program in the minimum hours required, you should take courses as outlined by the transfer guide for your major.

2 to 4 Transfer eligible students

Incoming community college freshmen enrolling as of fall semester, 2010 will be eligible to participate in the new 2 to 4 Transfer Program. Interested students currently enrolled in one of Alabama’s public two-year community colleges or recent graduates should contact the selected college directly to determine transfer eligibility. For these students, each participating Independent Colleges and Universities will determine eligibility.

2 to 4 Transfer Program Colleges and Universities

Effective July 1, 2010, selected independent four-year colleges and universities have signed articulation agreements. Two new articulation agreements have recently been added, Miles College and Tuskegee University. We expect additional colleges and universities will sign agreements soon.
